Question

Battery Acer TimelineU M5-581T-6807

Apr 14, 2015 11:41AM PDT

I need help.
I'm not an expert on electronics but I do know that I need a new battery.

I searched on google, amazon and ebay and even the Acer website but I can't find the needed battery.
I'm not sure what battery I need nor how I can replace it.

Can anyone help me find it please ?

It looks proprietary and internal.

Well atleast now I know it's internal.
I live at Curacao, an island off the coast of Venezuela.

We do have a couple of electronic stores but they mostly sell Dell, HP, Apple and Samsung.

Being internal...

It's likely to be something that we get from Acer and not a local store. Even in the USA I didn't find it on amazon, etc.

The battery doesn't look years old here. Did you use it daily on battery power?

Here's why I ask. These batteries are rated 300 cycles so even today's laptops are best on the mains at all times to keep from using your battery life up. There are folk that want to run it on battery during the day and charge at night. Those folk are in for a rude shock.

Let's try another tack.

Tell more about age and use. If you used it on battery a lot, then given the date this model shipped it is very easy to wear out a battery. More common is damage to the OS about ACPI battery issues. To fix that I just restore the machine to it's factory condition.

By the time folk give me the machine they already tried this:

You can also find this issue if folk install a non-stock OS.

I've had it for about 2.5 years now. It started having problems 5 months after I got it.
The charger was the first to give up and the battery problem came after.
My dad bought it in Miami and brought it here by plane.

I use the laptop for most of my day especially for school work.
The problem is that my laptop will shut down if it isn't connected to the charger.
So now it's connected to my charger which I got from my mom's Acer 24/7

300 cycles or about 18 months.

Sounds about right for when folk use the battery. I didn't find the part in other than Acer supplies.
