You may not be seeing the Forum Tip. It reads:
Tip: If you are asking for help to troubleshoot a computer-related problem, please be sure to include all the necessary information (ie: operating system, model number, hardware, software, etc) that will help others identify your problem for a speedy resolution.
You may need to tell the make/model as well as how the OS was installed on these machines. For example, XP will not know about batteries on laptops until some number of drivers are installed. Your laptop maker and support will have to tell you what these drivers are.
In the case of a Dell, I had to update a BIOS to enable the second battery to show. This is another example of why the make/model matters.
Hope you find your answers.

hi
both my wife and I work on notebooks. Her notebook has
had a problem for a few months now: the battery is
not seen! It does not say that the battery is uncharged,
the OS (winXPpro) simply says that there is no battery.
We thought this might be because the battery is rather
old (but it was working fine...then from one day to another it disappeared...).
NOW I HAVE A SIMILAR PROBLEM ON MY NOTEBOOK: I just received a "second battery for the modular bay", so I
remove the DVD reader and insert the battery. In this
configuration winXPpro should recognize that it is working with two batteries, but it doesn't: on mynotebook the OS still sees the primary battery perfectly, but the battery in the modular bay is not seen.
What can I try?
I assume (since both our computers are affected) that
these problems must be common, but I couldn't find
on the web any helpful info.
many thanks in advace
Giovanni
