Basic Wireless Internet Security

I am just wondering, if I use my notebook wirelessly in say a cafe or library are there increased security risks? Will my computer be easier to access or transmissions able to be intercepted? And do you need to be more careful with sensitive information like credit card numbers and passwords?

Type EVIL WIFI TWIN into google.com to see the issue of using public hotspots. While I think it's grand to be able to get web content almost anywhere, this evil twin issue plus more has me write "something I'll never do."
