basic networking question

by mknighten / December 14, 2008 7:42 AM PST

I am new to wireless networking. I have had a wired router for several years and am making the switch to wireless for my laptop. I have an older desktop and a Playstation 3 that is wired in as well. My silly question is this: If I use my wireless router for my DSL connection and continue to use the wired connection for my desktop and Playstation 3 will I still be leaving my files on my desktop unsecured when my son is online with his Playstation? The wireless router is for my laptop only. I do not share files with the two computers.

understand it your computer is protected by what ever security system you are using on the computer.

the router would be protected by making it secure with wep wap security.

Just my thoughts

Thanks. That's what I thought also. I took some security precautions on the router. I was a little unsure about my files being vulnurable through the PS3. I'm not real knowledgable about the security issues.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
