Question

Barcode problems

Jun 4, 2014 3:57AM PDT

Hi, all!

I had been having problems with importing my barcode into Photoshop then converting it to a pdf. After talking to my printer, they suggested using InDesign. The barcode (I've used both pdf and eps) looks crisper when I export it to a pdf, but, it still won't scan! I'm just using the place function in InDesign and exporting it to a printable pdf format. I'm quite new to designing for publishing, so I can imagine there are some things I'm missing. Any help would do!

Thank you, in advance!

Answer
Odd, why not create the barcode as needed?

Also, what is this conversion?
What scanner are you using?

I wrote barcode support into my app years ago and your process sounds a little flawed or you have a failing reader.

The barcode was generated online

I downloaded the barcode as both a .pdf and .eps. I have a few scanner apps on my phone, they all work when I scan the InDesign version, but not with the pdf. I'm exporting to Acrobat with no downsampling or compression.

I never did any web method. I used bar code fonts and since those are free, I could create the bar code in Visual Basic, Visual Studio, Word and well, lots of places.
