Question

Banned from posting on CNET

I tried to reply to a comment tonight and a red bar came up and said that I was banned from commenting. No email telling me why and the "Find out more" is not helpful at all. I want to know why! I was having a debate with a another poster. I did not "violate" the policy, in my opinion. It was a debate using website links and information.

Clarification Request
website links

CNET allows website links, but not those seeming to be used to promote someone's SEO to increase hits to their own sites. The links should be aimed at information that's helpful in the thread.

That wasn't the reason for the links

I posted links to show my point for the sake of the debate. None of these sites benifitted the sites for hits. One view isn't going to make a difference one way or the other. That is an absurd reason to ban someone from posting comments. To repeat your statement......the links were solely used to backup, "inform" and to be helpful. Nothing more.

Hi BAFDJR,

Can you refer me to the CNET article that you were commenting on, so I can investigate?

Much appreciated.

Thank you for that.

Hmmm, looks like your account was suspended by accident. It might have been links you provided that were thought of as spam. Our apologizes for that. Give it a try now and let me know if you can post comments now. You may need to log out of CNET and log back in if it doesn't work for you.

Let me know.
Cheers,
-Lee
