Baltimore Burning

Apr 27, 2015 12:50PM PDT

All over the news. Mayor says to let them destroy some things. Police cars burned. Senior Citizen's center burned. CVS pharmacy looted then burned. Looting in progress many places. Other fires breaking out. Murders happening in the streets. Violence going unchecked. National Guard to come tomorrow. Worst since MLK death in April 1968. Police ineffective, failing to shoot looters, failing to perform their duty properly, failing to protect property. Disgusting display of anarchy in action when authority fails to take necessary steps to end it.

YES...it's terrible
Apr 27, 2015 1:39PM PDT

BUT not as terrible as you're portraying it. Not yet anyways.

Senior Citizen's center burned...(no seniors living there? under construction)

Murders happening in the streets (couldn't find any reported as of 11:30 PM ET)

Construction was finished
Apr 27, 2015 10:13PM PDT

and opening was scheduled soon......just because nobody was living there doesn't mean it's a 'free' target for thugs, does it?

How 'terrible' does it have to get before you find cause to be outraged?

failing to shoot looters,...is THAT normal procedure..."shooting" someone for looting?

wish you cared

shooting looters?......what could anyone steal that is worth another persons life?

I think apprehending the perps, and bringing them to justice....without shooting is more appropriate, I'm OK with using a tazer on them. this also works for me

maybe you will listen to a black sheriff?

Nah, probably not.

You issue the notice to vacate the street or deadly force will be used. If the time allotted passes and they refuse to adhere to the curfew, to the order to clear the street under emergency law, then yes, time to start shooting. Maybe one for an example to the others, but time to take strong forceful action. I don't believe the police must put their own lives at greater peril than necessary against such thugs. Follow the instructions, having been sufficiently warned, or die in the street if that's YOUR choice.

some stats
Apr 28, 2015 12:55AM PDT

of the ones arrested and identified on news, only one was over 40, most were in their teens or 20's, and sadly, most were local, not anarchist from outside the area. Maybe those haven't arrived yet? My daughter had a good suggestion; use paint ball guns to mark the ones involved and maybe to capture them later and charge them. If they had permanent staining ink balls to shoot, that would work even better! They use that in exploding ink packs to catch bank robbers, prove they were the ones, also to stain the bills so they become worthless for use to the crooks. When I was in AF, the fire alarms at one assignment, in the dorms were loaded with exploding ink powder. It settles on the person, then later the moisture in air causes it to bleed and discolor the person's clothes. It can float in the air for a long time after, so sometimes anyone going into the area later can get speckled marks on their uniform too, which was a downside to it's use.

Don't shoot?
Apr 28, 2015 1:42AM PDT

Pick up a rock or cinder block and attempt to injure someone else, they have a right to defend themselves, to shoot you. If only someone had shot at this group to disperse them, preferably hitting the one who assaulted this man.

God says shoot'em. The sword today is the gun. Which is worse, a small bullet or a hacking sword? Maybe we should send the police out against the rioters with swords instead.

Romans chapter 13

...3 For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil.

Exodus 23
1 "You shall not bear a false report; do not join your hand with a wicked man to be a malicious witness. "You shall not follow the masses in doing evil, nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after a multitude in order to pervert justice; 3nor shall you be partial to a poor man in his dispute....

Proverbs 18:5
"It is not good to be partial to the wicked and so deprive the innocent of justice."

Genesis 6 speaks of what was going on just before the Great Flood was sent by God.

5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

Here's one of the better sermons I've heard on rioting. This is from the 1992 Los Angeles riots.

How about stealing
Apr 28, 2015 3:25AM PDT

another family's livelihood that they worked years to build up by looting or burning it to the ground?

"shooting looters?......what could anyone steal that is worth another persons life?"

Were any of those throwing paving blocks and rocks at the police worried that they were possibly going to kill one or more of them or disable them for life and unable to provide for their own families?

Wish you cared.....for a human life. (your words, JP)

RE: How about stealing..........burning it to the ground
Apr 28, 2015 4:22AM PDT

Yeah..how bout it

We have "apps" for both those crimes. "killing/shooting" the perp isn't included/mentioned as a punishment, especially by another civilian, or even a police office taking "justice" into his/her own hands.

Criminal Offence Penalty Chart

Theft Penalties and Sentencing

AND

Arson is a crime that states have divided into different degrees of severity. In some situations and in some states, arson may only amount to a misdemeanor offense, though felony charges are also possible. Felony offenses are more serious than misdemeanor offenses, and typically involve significant damage to property or fires set in homes, dwelling places, or buildings with people inside of them.

Don't let the perps get away with anything...charge them and sentence them....Do you agree with that?

Unless the govt
Apr 28, 2015 4:33AM PDT

is going to fully replace it themselves, then they have failed to provide the laws and the enforcement they are charged with and that's malfeasance in my book on their part. We need stronger laws and stronger actions for such. These businesses are people's lives, these homes are their lives, the cars are their lives, insurance never covers it all and the perps can never repay the amount destroyed. A person has the right to use deadly force against home breakers and the police should be there to do the same on their behalf.

"Murders happening in the streets."

so many bodies lying in the streets last night, looked like they were dead. Thankfully they were just beaten senseless and left there to die, if that was to happen. Don't know if anyone yet has actually died from the violent attacks which have happened.

Apr 28, 2015 5:33AM PDT

haven't determined what is 'terrible' enough for you to be not only outraged, but even upset. You seem to be more outraged over wording in a post and critiquing it than the actions by the rioters. Can you tell me why that would be since that seems to be your usual order of business here? Does anything that happens outside of your yard/property line ever truly affect/bother you or is your entire mentality geared toward 'oh well'?

Apr 28, 2015 6:09AM PDT

BUT I think everyone should follow the law even the people that don't agree with the rioters.

IF I went outside the law for justice I would be just as bad as the rioters.

Is THAT where YOU would be....walking down the street shooting everyone that you think is a "rioter"?

I can comment of the way I think James embellishes a story can't I? It doesn't mean I agree with the rioters.

Most in SE don't comment when they agree with a post....they MAY give a thumbs up...but most responses and negative....do some research.

When is the last time you agreed with a post made by me?

IF you think everyone should follow the law, then I have to assume that you believe that BO and many of his cronies in DC (and even some of those OUT of DC recently) should be investigated and indicted for breaking them willy-nilly. And that would be the first time you agreed with me.....

Saw the CVS fire on the news last evening
Apr 27, 2015 8:37PM PDT

The report said protesters were cutting hoses firemen were trying to use. I really can't help but wonder what affect the choosings of the news media have on people not in the area but witnessing these reports. Of course their goal cannot be to help keep calm. Calm isn't sellable. I'm suspicious of them enough to think they might hope these reports spawn other incidents similar to what's happening in Baltimore. Of course racial injustice will continue to be the topic of conversation. So far, I've not seen the two usual suspects show up on camera either. Where the heck are they? What I fear most is backlash that could set things back decades. IMO, racial prejudices can grow based more on what we see in the news than what we actually experience every day.

Not to go into Baltimore to jobs. They both work for the state, and finally this morning the state govt gave the day off to all state employees. They shouldn't have waited even that long. I think they finally realized most weren't going into work anyway. The black Milwaukee police chief was on FOX today and had some wise advice for Baltimore. If you can find it on utube, or FOX, worth watching.

Here comes Al Sharpton
Apr 28, 2015 12:03PM PDT

Idiot. Already trying to stir things up again. He's a walking, talking anachronism that's not done the nation a favor by passing on already to his reward in hell.

http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2015/04/28/rev-al-sharpton-derides-mondays-violence-slams-md-governor/

"Sharpton says he understands the frustration but says it won't help. He also had some harsh words for Governor Larry Hogan. The cheap shots that the governor's taken at the mayor — a governor who's never stood up and dealt with police reform — should not be used as a deception here," Sharpton said."

I hope he gets arrested for inciting violence if it breaks out again and directly related to something he says. The Mayor of Baltimore is black, the Governor of Maryland is white, and Al Sharpton is insinuating himself to push the race card.
