for some time now, thanks to Jack's post awhile back.
There has been increased activity in the nest recently. One of the eggs was expected to hatch around the 26th, and the other a couple days later. But, as with humans, the "expected" date of delivery is oftentimes off the mark.
There appears to now be "peck marks" on both of the eggs, so we are hoping to see some young'uns in the nest very soon.
We have nicknamed the parent birds Heathcliff & Gertrude (in honor of Red Skelton's old comedy routine about two seagulls.) Gertrude is slightly smaller than Heathcliff, but to tell the truth, I have only seen them together in the nest twice, and I couldn't tell them apart.
We are having a great time watching them. It truly makes me smile.
