Bad picture settings on 22-inch LG 720p HDTV

Here is more detailed specifications for the TV:

Basically, this involves video-games. My Nintendo Wii and Microsoft Xbox 360 look ... bad on this TV. What's strange is that, if I play my Xbox or Wii on my 10-year-old, non-HD 50 inch (full screen) big screen TV, the graphics of both consoles seem to "improve". The graphics seem to be much SMOOTHER, and just look more bold... just plain old better. It's strange because that's not the case on my LCD TV.

On my old TV, I use the Red/Yellow/White (AV) cables for output. On my HDTV, I use the AV cables for the Wii, and HDMI for my Xbox. Even though I use AV cables on the Wii for both TVs, my old TV looks noticeably better. Even HD doesn't look as "smooth" compared to my old TV. What is causing this?

Thanks you very much to anyone who replies. I appreciate it, considering I've been having this problem for a year now.
