I had no problems outside a CDRW that failed in month 3. A call and there was a new CDRW on my doorstep in 3 days. Not that it matters but they would charge me 50 bucks if I shipped the old drive back in (a message?)
The laptop was used by me for about 4 years then the office supplied a newer model. I gave that one away to a friend and I hear it's still working. May your luck be as good.
Acer, much like other vendors has good hardware support but many today expect stellar software support. I don't care if Acer or other but don't count on that.
I went to Circuit City yesterday to get the Toshia A105-2141 which had Intel Celeron M410, 512 and 80GB and was $449 only to find out that they were sold out and couldn't special order as it is being discontinued. The salesperson showed me an open box Acer 5004 series with AMD64, 1028 and 1GB which she said was a faster computer with more memory and larger harddrive than the Toshiba. The Acer is $599. Does anyone know anything about the Acer computers? I appreciate any assistance you can give me.
My original post is under the heading Which Toshiba do I need. That post tells what I will be doing with the laptop. I'm on a budget but still want to get a decent laptop that will do what I need to do.
Thanks again for all of the help.
