Question

Bad mobile signal

Nov 2, 2016 8:08AM PDT

Hi everyone!
This is almost my first experience of writing on forums, so probably I will ask a question that was already asked, maybe, hundred times.
My situation is the following: I ‘ve got a cabin out of the sity, but mobile coverage there is really poor. I can make calls, but very often we can’t hear each other. I would like to have at least mobile Internet.
So I would like to know if there is something to improve mobile signal. Guys, who knows some solutions? I will appreciate your help.
Thank you

Re: improve mobile signal

Just yesterday, here in the Netherlands it was rather big news that mobile reception in a lot of small villages is so bad. It was even in the TV news that this is serious health risk, if the inhabitants can't reach an ambulance if they need one in case of an emergency!

All that can be done is to convince the telco's they should have more towers to have more coverage. But that costs money and needs permissions and ..., well, you can better live in a city than in some small rural village.

Wow, interesting and at the same time very dreadful information. Yeh, it's a real problem for people who live out of the city on a permanent base.
I live there not always, but still want to have decent signal every time.

Here, I have a choice of carriers.

I can't tell if you do but here, one of them was quite bad. The good news is that the landline worked.

Why not the old land line?

I think, it's even more difficult to have it here, at my place. Probably, there are some easy ways to improve mobile signal. Who knows?

Then it's like when I go camping.

There are some that demand coverage when out in the wild. The good news it lets us go and get away from it all.

-> There are spammers ready to tell you "easy steps" with boosters that are easy to find out if they work but there are folk you find that want to avoid the land line when that's the fix.

Same for the internet. The best connections here are via cable and fiber optic. But there are places where coverage is just bad and the best option is the old land line.

What are boosters?

You mentioned boosters. What is it? Can they improve mobile signal?

Boosters

Are of two types. The types you might see at flea markets or being sold by hucksters.

The others are pricey and vary by country but here it's Wilson. Here's the URL.

The price is such that a land line is cheaper. Or in my case, changing carriers fixed it.

I've made some research about these mobile signal boosters. It sounds like a good way out in such situation. I decided to order one. So thank you for your advice

You really need to give more info

Flying blind here. What zip code are you located in? And closest cross street in USA? UK? Etc.

This way we could see who is supposed to cover your location or nearby and recommend a pertinent solution.

Sharing my experience of using signal booster

I think, I need to end this topic up. I will share my experience of using mobile signal booster that I bought a month ago.
After some research I found some useful tips how to understand what frequency the phone receives and how to understand it in general. Here is the link https://www.huaptec.eu/en/resource-center/how-it-works/How-understand-what-frequency-your-phone-receives (you can find more useful articles on the site).
Well, I figured out that this is trustworthy mobile signal producer huaptec with good products (though firstly I found them really expensive). I decided to order the one that supports gms and 3g signal (they call it dual band).
Installation, as I figured out later, was simple and not time-consuming. Preaty easy, even for dummy like me Happy So, now my calls are really great, and I know what I am talking about. Internet on 3g defenitely not bad. If you are up to enhancing your signal and buying a booster, take my word - you may consider huaptec (only from my experience).
