Here's an issue you should consider. If the memory was failing in some way, the install could be corrupt. Here's what I would do.
1. Pass this memory test.
2. After that passes, install the OS again.
Your post left out a lot of information about the machine. It's BIOS date and more.
I recently did a clean install of WinXP. When I boot the computer, I get a message telling me the following: STOP 0x00000074 BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO
When searching the internet for possible solutions, I have read that the RAM chips may be bad and need to be replaced OR that the registry contains a read only file and should be removed.
I've tried inserting other ram chips and it still won't boot without getting the message. And the latter solution, I don't know how to delete the read only file in the \windows\system 32\config\system registry.
Do you have any other solutions? I really appreciate your help!
