Backup/recovery win7

Dec 16, 2009 12:02PM PST

Hello:

I am looking for a software to backup/recovery my new OS window7.
I did have experiences to backup/recovery winXP, but no successful
practice for window7.

Who could share your experiences with me. --Zhao

Well, Win 7 does have its own built in

backup/recovery utility. Have you tried it? Personally, I have not. I've been using Acronis True Image for disaster recovery purposes but that's only part of a backup scheme. I've Acronis 9 on my XP rig and put version 10 on the new Win 7 system. I've tested it using both the bootable CD and from within the OS. It seems to work.

Why True Image 2010..?

Hi Steven:

Thank you for your reply.

I tried to backup my window7 with Acrinis True Image 2010 but failed. When I did the recovery, it stopped at the "Starting Acronis Loader..." I am dismayed to see that. Do you know the reason?

I have found Acronis to be fussy about a few things.

One of these is USB card readers. It doesn't like them. It's also best to not have other USB external drives or flash drives plugged in when your imaging your system drive. Mostly this happens when using the bootable media that Acronis can make but I rather prefer that way than to running from Windows. I've not had too many problems with it or with Disk Director for partitioning.
