Backup Mail 4.5 on Macos 10.6.8

Feb 29, 2012 12:46PM PST

Without using time machine I am trying to backup all the emails and attachments in my Mail 4.5 account. I assume there is a folder than contains all emails and attachments and if I find that folder and burn it to a disc I will have another backup option for my emails other than time machine. (have had a few issues with time machine not picking up some files) hence not wanting to reply on it for emails.
Does any one know what directory or file I should be copying and pasting to a disc, so that I will capture all my emails and attachments.

Back-up of mail 4.5 on Mac

I am interested in this too. I presume it would be easy to select the mail folder in the Library folder [user>library>mail>POP a/c>etc] but items are only identified by number. So it is a pain to retrieve a letter if you don't know the number. You can show the No. on the Mailbox if you wish. Go to View >Columns and select Numbers. Mail downloads are easier are they are identified by name.

I wonder if the full inbox or complete mail folder is "restored" will it show up in the Mail application. I have not yet tried that from Timemachine I would love to know the answer.
