Question

Backup after recovery

Feb 10, 2015 4:55AM PST

I had to recover my computer (HP model a6230n, HP Pavilion 32-bit processor, AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core 5600+, 2.80 GHz, 3.00 GB RAM, 363 GB Hard Drive.) I backed up all my files to 6 CDs using the HP process. After recovery, I insert disk 1 and it reads backup.exe, but when I run, nothing happens. How can I download my backup data from the 6 CDs?

Well, that's a problem. I'd ask the author of the software (that's HP Customer Service) what to do.

This is one of the problems of using proprietary software for a backup. It would have been better if you had just copied your files to an 8 GB USB-stick (6 CD's = 4,2 GB at most, so maybe a 4 GB USB stick would have been big enough). Since for a good backup you need 2 devices, 2 USB-sticks would have been even better then only one.

But it's too late now. There's a a good chance you lost all.
