of your important data on either CDs or DVDs? If you have a computer failure, you will need to reinstall your programs for them to work. Whatever you do, don't use RWs. They are too unreliable.
I used to have a CompUSA Win 98 (originally Win 95)and a HP Win 98. I upgraded both by adding more memory and a CD burner which used Nero Express. Everything worked great. But, rather than add more memory and much larger harddrives (4MB and 6 MB respectively), I decided to purchase a Mac (love it) in February of this year and I had to purchase a Windows-based computer just for my genealogy program. Family Tree Maker won't run on Mac. So, I purchased a Sony VGC-RB 40 in July of this year. It is a nice machine. But, I don't know how to backup the entire internal harddrive using DVD-Rs or DVD-RWs. I took a class from sony.com, Protecting your data. They recommended I buy a Sony Microvault, Sony DVD-Rs and DVD-RWs. I did. But, the ''class'' was worthless. The class recommended Zip Drives or Tape Drives.
I still don't know how to backup everything on Drive C to a DVD. I did backup by genealogy program using the Sony Microvault. That was easy.
Sonic Record Now! is made by Sonic which is the parent company of Roxio (I believe). Should I uninstall Sonic Record Now! and install something else such as Nero?
Thank you
