Backing up Quicken 2004 files in XP

Nov 17, 2003 7:38AM PST

Going crazy trying to back up my Quicken 2004 files to CD-RW. The instructions for doing this from Intuit do not work. I have the latest patch which is release3. It claims that the built in CD burner program in XP will open if I click on file then backup. Nothing happens. Where is the built in Cd burner program? Dell was no help as was Quicken.

See if this'll work:

1. Insert a blank CD-R into your CD-RW drive.
2. Open My Computer.
3. Double-click your CD-RW Drive. It should open a blank window.
4. Now open Windows Explorer and browse to where your Quicken files are stored.
5. Right-click the Taskbar and select Tile Windows Horizontally. You will now see both windows side by side.
6. Drag & Drop your Quicken files onto the CD-R window.
7. On the Left column you will now see the text Burn these files to CD-R or something to that effect. Click that and proceed to burn the files to the CD-R.

Let us know if that works.

I have not tried this yet, but will a rewritable CD need to be formatted first?

Unable to launch blank CD.

I've inserted a blank CD only to get "DLA cannot use this blank media until it has been formatted. Would you like to format this media now?". Then upon trying to format, "format failed due to media write protect". All I want to do is open a blank CD.....

Can someone help me?

I'm using Quicken Deluxe 2001. When I select "Backup"
from the menu, I get a window which automatically
selects a destination. But there is also a "Browse"
button with which I can select a different location
or drive. Does this not work on the 2004 version?
