In case you've wondered what kind of mistakes I've made ...

*I've accidentally uninstalled KDE once, WHILE IN IT. I figured I'd remove a few things I didn't think I needed. Well, one of those things was a dependency for KDE, so it removed everything, and suddenly, I couldn't figure out why firefox quit working, then didn't exist. And why wouldn't the konsole even load? After restarting, I noticed I no longer had KDE as a session choice anymore.

*Recently, I accidentally removed Gnome, after wanting to get rid of EVOLUTION data center, or whatever - it's for email, right? Well, apparently Gnome depends on that.

*Upon booting up, Fedora complains about my motherboard/BIOS, talking about ACPI & such. I am wondering if that's because it expects to see my old hardware, but I really don't know. I am hoping that a fresh install on this hardware will resolve this issue.

*After a while, I wanted to change my screensaver, but when I went into the desktop configuration, there were no screensavers listed - just a blank box. However, I have all the fancy glx and slick and whatnot screensavers ... I even tried getting rid of them, and then reinstalling. Nothing. Before I did all that, the clock screensaver still worked sometimes ...

*one morning, Kalarm rang to wake me up, tired I hit the mute button and went to bed. I woke up later, went to school, came back home, and realized the alarm was still going. I closed the alarm, but I still heard it ringing. I quit Kalarm, it still rang. I logged out & then in, and it was finally silent. TOO silent - now, the alarm won't sound AT ALL.

*Probably a few other things, but this gives a general idea; and I know, you're probably thinking I'm an idiot who likes to mess with things I shouldn't be (since I couldn't possibly be smart enough to know what I'm doing). But, this is how I learn. I made a few mistakes with Windows, but I think I now know a LOT more than if I'd been scared of the OS. Besides, I know I can't screw anything up TOO bad - after all, it's just software. And if I manage to bring down the OS, all I have to is boot up into Windows, backup the data, and try again.
(This all comes from the same kid who was holding a live hard drive - to keep it from touching the metal frame - and fried it, with lots of pictures & such I didn't have backed up. We live & learn, eh?)
