Background problem *urgent* please help me :(

by badcookie799 / August 12, 2010 4:33 PM PDT

Hello, i've had problems with my computer background for months -.- and it's really getting on my nerves. i'd like to find a solution to my problem.. when i right click my desktop, click properties, click desktop.. and browse and find the photo i want to set, it looks fine in the preview but when i apply it, half of it is off the screen in the corner. i tried changing it to stretch, center, tile, i re sized the image to my exact desktop size, i also tried different resolutions and still no change! please if someone can help.. i've googled this Many Many times but none of the solutions worked for me, i've also tried multiple images... I'll post some screenshots now.

badcookie799, Open Display Properties and under the Desktop tab click the Customize Desktop button, under the Advanced tab make sure that ALL boxes are unchecked, click OK/Apply/OK. If that doesn't correct the problem here's a WAG possibility as it appears that the width of the Common Tasks bar is appx. the same as the width of the wallpaper being forced to the right side even though the Common Tasks bar doesn't show on the desktop. Go to the link below and click on "Win XP Fixes" (left side), click on "Remove Common Tasks from Desktop" (right column), then click on "XP_CommonTasks.exe" to download a zipped exe file. Instructions are on the page.

It won't hurt anything to try it.

badcookie799, Have you restarted your computer after running the XP_CommonTasks.exe - Remove Common Tasks from Desktop fix? If you didn't restart your computer.

"Right click your desktop
Select Properties
Select the Settings tab
Click Advanced
On the General tab at the top, there should be an option for DPI settings. Make sure this is set to Normal size {96 DPI}
OK your way out, you may need to reboot."

Does the same thing happens when you apply your default windows wallpapers or they workout perfectly.

Best Regards
