back up your backup

Hi all. Dire warning. My wife had her HDD wrecked in a storm. Fortunately she had a full backup on a Maxtor OneTouch. She took the computer (notebook) to a local "repair" station to have a new drive installed and her backup loaded. Tha computer shop lost the contents of the backup and claimed that there was nothing on the Maxtor although I had checked it on both my laptop and desktop computers before sending it. I presume that the technician hit the backup buton of the One Touch, Dumped the contents and backed up the empty new drive.
Moral....Belt and suspenders sometimes isn't enough.
We managed to salvage most of her stuff from the damaged drive but what a performance updating all the software. Cheers Stewart

That is why many recommend you save data on CDs or DVDs

I have an external hard drive and also save my "stuff" on CDs and DVDs. Hard drives, whether they are internal or extenal, can fail or be erased.
