Removed Babylon from Firefox 4
Mar 23, 2011 6:39PM PDT

I've got it removed from my FireFox 4.

In the address bar type 'about:config' and click the enter button. A friendly warning appears which you need to agree and click 'ok'. Noe search for 'babylon' in the filter bar. All registry entries with babylon will show up. Right click on each entry and reset the values.

This will solve your issue.

I did that too, but it won't let me reset all the entries, and then when I close and open the program again, they are there again! What do I do?! :S Thanks!

Remove Babylon - from Internet Explorer
Dec 17, 2011 6:25AM PST

I have replicated your advice in the latest Firefox browser and it seems to work. I tried to use the same procedure in Internet Explorer 8 (by typing in about:config) but not surprisingly it does not work. What is the equivalent correct procedure for IE8? I use Windows XP. [Previously I thought I had got rid of Babylon by using Revo Uninstaller but this has obviously not got rid of all the traces in spite of appearances]. Thanks in advance.

I'd Do It This Way
Aug 14, 2011 3:02AM PDT

First, because there may be other malware on the machine, please download, install, update, then run BOTH of the free malware removal tools from the links below:

Malwarebytes Antimalware

SUPERAntispyware Removal Tool

Once that's done, then open Internet Explorer, click on "Tools" in the upper left, select "Manage Add Ons", then find the Babylon search in the "Search Providers" section or any of the other areas, and uninstall it from there. If you're using another browser, check for Babylon in those other browsers as well in the "Tools-Add Ons" section and remove it.

Hope this helps.

Use MalwareBytes Anti-Malware.
Aug 16, 2011 8:30PM PDT

From my research by using google to look up the babylon website, I have found that it is very malicious software (looking at the Web of trust (WOT) scorecard).

As Babylon search is Malware, the best option to remove it is to download MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, it will remove the malicious software and fix your browser.

And....

Be careful as the software is embedded in the CNET Download manager.

Deleting Babylon
Feb 23, 2012 7:54AM PST

My son is a Techie, and he understood and followed your instructions. Babylon is now gone. Thank you. However, I did not understand your instructions. I understand what he did, but could not begin to explain it to others. Would you break it down in layman's terms so others can get rid of this insidiously annoying, and probably malicious, program. You would be doing a huge service to a great number of people. Just look at how many people have posted looking for a solution. You have the ability to help them. I hope yu will do so.

Re: flash cs4

Assuming you bought a legal version, adobe's customer support should be able to help you. I'm sure they want to keep their customers happy. The best way, of course, is not to include that babylon stuff in their setup, but helping you remove it might be good enough.

If it happens to be a cracked version, our only advise can be to see if system restore (back to before you installed it) works. Then buy the program from adobe or from a well-known shop.

There's also the option the 2 things (installing flash cs4 and installing babylon) are unrelated.

Babylon Search Engine removal
Feb 23, 2012 6:03AM PST

I removed Babylon from Firefox but it is still there when I use IE 8 in spite of running SuperAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes and Spybot, and looking for it under Manage Add-ons without success. >> Thought: is it a "toolbar" (which could now have been removed) or is it a "search engine" (which is still there)? The removal procedures could be different. You can now download from CNET a Babylon Toolbar Remover but now I am dubious about downloading anything that might be infected - and may not achieve the aim of getting rid of the "default" search engine. Has anyone had relevant experience they could share?
