Avi to Mpeg

I am trying to convert a video to avi to mpeg 1. But the sound is out of snyc, and too fast for the video.

Does the setting for the bit rate of audio and video matter?

If so what are they?

Can anyone help me out so that the video can be in snyc?

Since MPEG 1 is non standard (you didn't tell if it was for VCD which would be a standard) I can't tell you which bitrate to use.

And if it's for VCD, the answer is out there so I don't have to look that up.

-> The AV SYNC issue is done to death on discussion forums. Try what others do to fix it.
