mentioned situation with AVG components is related with improperly loaded virus database, which is mostly caused by these reasons:

A) Not enough operating memory during computer startup (minimal hardware requirements is 512 MB)

B) Corrupted virus database files
- you can check folder C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\AVG for "incavi.avm" file (size must be more than 90 MB)
- check your hard disk for errors (How-To article)

C) Conflict with other protection application(s)
- what other protection applications or firewall are you using?
