General discussion

My previous thread was "Format" 03/01/2004 2:50pm .I got help in how to do a format. Before taking the final plunge I decided to have another look in google for "Avgcc.exe" for which I am getting illegal action and will be shut down...! I found that this was a trojan and I should delete(if it exists)
I opened my registry in wordpad, backed it up and got as far as"current version" . The "Run\Win32.DLL was not there ! Am I stuck with this Trojan? I get the warning on "start up" and all I have to do is x-it-out(no biggie??) but it is annoying .

Thanks for your response . I do have AVG . The Trojan apparently attacks anti virus programs, preventing them from working . Since I submitted my problem, I got another warning :
Amwendungsfehler Exceptio EExternalException in module AD-AWARE.EXE bei 000CD4E7 Externe Exception C000001D OK
My German is almost nonexistant but I assume it is dealing with AVG .

It tells you it has an error in module Ad-aware.exe

I can't find anything regarding the numbers you are getting Sad

Which trojan did you find??

Maybe it would be best to run an on-line scan:

either Housecall:

or Panda:

You also could download The Cleaner (from Moosoft) is a trojan scanner and is free for 30 days. But don't forget to UPDATE the program with the build-in updater.

Pls. let us know how you are doing.

I tried the moosoft trojan cleaner - it showed my system to be clean !I felt that I was getting snowed under with all the different "This program performed an illegal action ," warnings and decided to Format .I have reloaded most of my pograms and so far everything seems to be just fine.
Thank you for your help - it is much appreciated !!
Oh yes - you asked why I thought I had a trojan. One of the problems was with Avgcc32 and following the trail through google the symptoms matched those caused by a trojan .
