AVG Updates always ask for a reboot

Feb 23, 2011 6:55PM PST

Hi Guys !!!

I have used AVG for over a year now. I currently have AVG Free 7.5. A couple of months ago it started demanding I reboot after each daily update.

I cleaned the registry with Reg Mechanic.
no change.
So.
I repeated the clean with Reg Mechanic and defragged C and then re-installed AVG.

The problem went away for a few weeks but has now re-appeared.

Any thoughts anyone?

Thanks
Manish

Hello seowork1,

please be informed that AVG7 is not supported for a long time.

Uncommon requests for restart after daily update can be related with AVG settings or incorrectly loaded virus database (corrupted, not enough operating memory, etc.).

Please check the situation after complete AVG reinstallation (AVG9 installation files - scroll down). Check also your hard drive for errors.

What is basic configuration of used computer?

Thank you

I'm confused.

I note from your post the other day in this thread, that you had 'successfully uninstalled AVG version 9 and can now install the latest AVG version'.

So, what is this AVG Free 7.5 you are posting about now?

Mark

Hey Mark !!!

Don't be so confused..

I have uninstalled AVG version 9 in my personal lappy.. Whereas I am using AVG Free 7.5 in my office PC where that reboot problem occurs to me... As I think hat AVG is most reliable anti virus that's why I am using it in my both systems..

By the way thanks to Ondrej for providing that helpful thread... Now I think I can solve my problem by self..

I'll be back soon if any need more help from you guys !!!

Thanks
Manish
