** AVG technical support avenues **

AVG technical support options were slightly altered with AVG 2012 product line release. Even though the changes were made based on customer feedback, they may cause some confusion sometimes. The main support avenues are (text) chat with support agent and phone call. Additionally, AVG Forums are available as another first contact option. Besides these basic option, there are premium (paid for) services available in some regions, which include effective remote assistance.
We receive a complaint on e-mail support option not available directly. This option is no longer available on the technical support web gateway indeed. The previously mentioned options delivers suitable solution to a reported issue much faster. However, in case a log file or additional diagnostic data are needed, technical support agent will initiate e-mail communication in order to exchange the needed data. This change allows us to resolve any issues our customer appear to be experiencing in timely manner. All the changes are aimed on increasing your overall satisfaction with AVG products and complete peace of mind.
See the AVG technical support web page for more information on support avenues.

Some users may when upgrading AVG 2011 to AVG 2012. This issue is being investigated by developers. We attach examples of the previous version and current version of AVG Toolbar here.

The AVG Toolbar has been completely reworked, therefore it lacks some of features included in previous version at the moment. We are working on implementing the popular features in one of the upcoming AVG program updates.
In case you would like to install the new AVG toolbar, please reinstall AVG 2012 completely (involving AVG Remover in the process) as described in these forum articles:

Some users may have experienced erratic AVG Toolbar behavior lately. Home page change is offered in a dialogue window while refusing this change leads to repetitive pop-up window displaying. At the end of the day, user confirms the dialogue window in order not to be bothered again. Should you be experiencing such situation, please follow this FAQ article to your default homepage. You may also install the most recent AVG Toolbar version as described in paragraph 3 above.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused to you.

** AVG update stuck on 64-bit Windows **

Several AVG Free Forum visitors reported non-functional update process on their 64-bit systems. The update process seemingly stalls when analyzing downloaded update files. Based on the so far provided diagnostic data, the update installation process is "correctly" closed (prematurely). The issue may well be caused by a software conflict or possibly by a hidden infection. We were not yet able to induce this situation in our environment on 64-bit operating systems unfortunately. An update process crash dump needs to be investigated by developers.
Should you meet similar update issue, please contact AVG technical support or alternatively provide forum moderators with all needed information as described in this forum post.
