AVG scanning fewer objects

by Basil Hall / January 29, 2009 3:59 PM PST

Avg has scanned 31,000 objects instead of the usual 58,000 during the last two scans.

Anyone had the same problem? Anyone got a fix for it? I haven't tampered with the settings.

thanks
Baz

only modified files

Maybe there's a case of "scan only modified files"? There are several antivirus software that do this, since I use bitdefender I can tell you for sure that bitdefender has such a thing.

I heard the same thing about kaspersky, but I wouldn't know for sure because I had some problems with it a while ago and I'm not using it anymore.

You should access your logs from AVG and see if the scanner has reported the rest of 27.000 files as unmodified Happy

but nothing to indicate why it is not registering all 58,000 objects in logs.

Hi Basil,

At AVG Free forum was posted:

Since update 2 days ago AVG is scanning less objects

The scan reporting in respect to registry items has changed its way. Before prog version 8.0.233 each registry entry eg. String, dword, binary etc. or values were considered as 1 scanned object. After prog version 8.0.233 each registry key is considered as an object. Therefore the amount after update 8.0.233 may be lowered quite a lot.
