AVG - Norton AV & Zone Firewall - Norton Firewall

Mar 5, 2004 11:51PM PST

My free trial of Norton firewall and Norton anti-virus runs out tommarrow. I already downloaded AVG's free antivirus as well as the ZONE firewall. Any advice about these 2 switches wold be helpful.

Please be specific. Thanks!

Both are good choices. One caveat about AVG 6 Free, due to recent flood of viruses and requests for updates, the only update site sometimes does not connect.

A small revision of the "url" file in the AVG6 folder will add additional update sites. If you have a problem post in the Viruses and Security Alerts forum for expert advice from a moderator. This is no big deal but maybe a small annoyance you may run into. I am very pleased with AVG 6.

Happy

Glenn

I think you'll be happy with AVG and Zone Alarm. I use them both and have been quite pleased with them. Additionally, you won't find them to be resource hogs.

Since you have both, satisfy yourself by updating both AVG and NAV, then run both full scans. You may find that AVG finds things that NAV ignores. This is because NAV do not consider some 'things' as viruses. If you get the paid version of AVG, you get support. Your choice.
