Free download installation issues
Mar 29, 2011 2:17AM PDT

Hi
When I click on the 'this post at AVG free forum' it won't load, it says 'oops google chrome could not find forums.avg.com'. I have tried it a couple of times and get the same message.
Could it be google chrome that is preventing it ??

Hello Twinklefairy1,

Links are working for me at the moment.
Please try to open them in different browser or with different computer.
You could also download the full installation file elsewhere and move it to your computer via USB drive.

Thank you

Hello Twinklefairy1,

your description looks like you cannot access AVG.com domain properly. This can be caused by active infection or hijacked DNS records. Is possible to visit AVG Free website at free.avg.com?

To check DNS records please follow these steps:
1. Check your Internet connection settings
- Click on Start > (Settings) > Control Panel.
- If there is the "Classic View" item displayed on the left side of the window, please click on it.
- Use double-click on the "Network connections" icon.
- Use right-click on your Internet connection.
- Choose the "Properties" option in the menu.
- Find the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" item on the "General" tab, mark it and click on the "Properties" button.
- Please check (and modify if necessary) the settings of IP address and DNS servers according to your Internet Provider settings or choose the "Obtain DNS server address automatically" option.
- Confirm the settings by clicking on the "OK" button.
- Close the window.

2. Please flush the DNS Resolver Cache
- Click on the Start > Run... (or use the "Start Search" field).
- Type "cmd" (without quotation marks) and click on the "OK" button.
- Then please type "ipconfig /flushdns" (without quotation marks) and press the <Enter> key.
- There should be the "Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache" message displayed.
- Close the window now please.

Please check this direct link (using exact IP address) to download needed full AVG installation file. Is possible to download AVG installation file?

If the situation still persists, please provide us with Gmer Anti-rootkit scan result:
1. Download the Gmer tool.
2. Save the archive to your disk, and then extract it.
3. After extracting the archive, rename Gmer.exe to Tool.exe (or any name of your choice - some infections prevent the GMER tool from running based on its name).
4. Run the Tool.exe file.
5. In the bottom right corner, click Scan.
6. When the scan is complete, click Save... to save the result.
7. Upload the saved document to your favorite online storage and provide us with link to it in the next post.

Thank you
