AVG free

Jun 24, 2005 4:25AM PDT

I just installed AVG free. Now my Win XP Pro Outlook Express has a paperclip symbol next to each new e-mail, even if the e-mail contains no attachment. This is not so much a bother as a worry. I'm concerned something is wrong and my antivirus protection is compromised. Any comments, suggestions? AVG free offers no tech help beyond their FAQ.

This this is normal...

and should be no cause for concern. I use Outlook Express and have the same paper clip. My understanding is AVG considers the confirmation added to the message by AVG as an attachment.

Hope this helps.

No it is not normal

I do not have paperclips on my messages unless they came loaded with images etc.

I do have the incoming/ougoing mail checked messages turned on, so I, to, would sse paperclips if it was "normal." I do think it's "normal" if the message is not straight text. If it includes images or hypertext within the body of the message I think a paperclip still shows up but not if it is a "sraight text" message.

AVG email certification paper clip
Jun 27, 2005 10:16PM PDT

This email certification in incoming and out going email can be removed by going to the AVG control centre / email scanner / configuration and uncheck the certify check box in both in and out emails.

The emails will be scanned either way but no more attachments [certificate footers] in emails. Happy

cheers
