AVG email scanner not activated

Dec 30, 2005 12:24PM PST

I have to activate the scanner manually when I start or restart the computer. I'm not sure why but this just started recently. I had a date problem initally and corrected it. I've used it for years, no problem and just updated to 7.1.371 on win XP. Not a big deal really but I'd rather not have to do it. Any ideas?

The boxes for "with atachments only" is not checked the top 4 are.

I don't think I want to check with attachments only. As I recall I never used this feature. The default set up doesn't check them either.

with attachments only is optional,I prefer it,its just a matter of preference

Go into the Email Scanner>Properties>plug in tab>properties> Servers tab and look at the info for the SMTP server to see if its set to active

Also under the properties and logging tabs are default buttons, just a thought

I found a problem
Dec 30, 2005 10:56PM PST

The SMTP server was somehow disabled, not active, I set to active. I switched to Qwest ISP not long ago and AVG still had my dial up connection listed. I set that to LAN. I thought that would take care of it but it still isn't activated somehow.

I just remembered there is an AVG forum, I'll go over there and have a look. Thanks for your help and ideas, I thought you found the problem.

also just after an AVG program update. Finally decided it must have been a corrupted install, so Un-installed (after downloading clean copy to MY Docs) and installed AVG fresh from new copy. Updated and has been ok ever since. For What it's worth. Good Luck! Happy
