I had him boot safe mode to run CHKDSK /F and that seems to have fixed his.
The free version has support where you can find it (their forums, anywhere.) But since his worked after the safe mode and chkdsk /f we are left with a bigger question. It's about Windows. That is, folk are growing tired of coddling this old OS.
What do you think? Are Windows days numbered?
Few days back I installed AVG (AVG Antivirus Free version) and from then only my computer was not working as smooth as it used to work before installation. Suddenly last night AVG starts giving error messages on my laptop. Initially my computer automatically rebooted, the process took an hour time and when I tried to use some application I failed to open them. Then again after few time it again got rebooted.
To fix this issue I tried to uninstall the AVG application by using the option of "Add/Remove Programs" but it left my laptop black-screened. Then again I tried rebooting the Laptop using Last Known Good Configuration but it wouldn’t start.
Fortunately I didn’t lose any of my data due to this blunder as my laptop was in the procedure of rebuilding the hard drive. At present I have reformatted my laptop’s hard drive and reinstalled the OS.
What I faced is a malfunction or is a common issue?
