We are not the only people having problems with AVG 2013.
When I installed this on my computer, I eventually got a message on my screen that
the application was not working properly. It actually stopped. That message also
said my OS automatically changed the compatibility mode to Windows Vista, and
my operating system is Windows 7.
This helped for a while, then other programs began to freeze or run slowly.
I suspected the AVG 2013 was the problem, removed it, and replaced with
Free Avira.
This has solved the problem. I would stay away from AVG 2013
altogether, or until this problem is fixed. I can't say for sure if compatibility
with operating systems is the problem for everyone or not.

A week ago, I successfully installed AVG Anti-Virus Free 2013 on my computer (O/S Windows 7). I had AVG Free 2012 before that.
On clicking on the AVG icon in my system tray, I do get the intimation "you are protected." But I cannot find anywhere the DATE OF EXPIRY of my AVG Free protection.
When I call AVG's toll-free number for either an answer as to where I can find the date of expiry or, perhaps preferably, directly the date of expiry itself as based on my record which AVG must have, frustratingly I get put on "hold" "for ever".
I want to know with certainty the date of expiry for the following reason:
Despite the situation that my Control Panel > Programs shows 9/21/12 as the date of installation for AVG 2013 (Free), I recently started getting from AVG on my computer a periodic message --which is obviously aimed at selling me their paid "full protection" version-- that my "protection is about to expire in 8 days; so 'Buy Now'."
Thank you.
