AVG and eTrust AV---one more time

XP Home
2.4 gig
256 MB Ram
Road Runner Cable

1. EZ Trust Anti Virus is prime---AVG installed on hard drive, but not active.
2. I run the Etrust AV (Ver. on a file containing EICAR.com and it reports a virus as it should, however it then tells me, in a pop-up, to run AVG to remove the virus!

Does anyone else have this combination and do they get the same results or can anyone explain this behavior?

Unless someone comes on to explain that, it might be best to send your question to the EZ AV folks.

My version of EZ does not direct me to AVG.

What does your version do when it picks up on a virus---or a test virus like EICAR?

I have only used eTrust a few days and switched to the CA product because Road Runner included it and their software firewall for free for a year.

I thought this forum might be a quicker and more unbiased source of information---

With my version of EZ AV (

If I attempt to access an EICAR file I get two popups.

The first shows access to file denied.

The second suggest running a scan.
There is nothing to indicate who's scanner to run so I'll assume it means to run the EZ AV on demand scanner.

I have and use both

AVG and EZ Trust - I run EZ Trust to provide my real time anti virus protection. I disable "resident shield" in AVG, this allows it to protect my email ( I like the notation at the end of all of my outgoing emails "This email is certified virus free..etc) I have never had EZ Trust refer me to AVG if it found a problem using this configuration.I keep AVG up to date and disable EZ Trust and run a system scan a couple of times a month. Hope this helps.

Interesting---and thanks to both for the inputs.

I believe I will keep both AV progsrams and live with what eTrust wants to do if it finds something amiss.

Badabing's method looks fine to me.

Thanks again--
