AVG 9.0 free trial won't uninstall

Jul 22, 2010 9:00AM PDT

It runs through the uninstall process and then I get this message:
Local machine: installation failed
Installation:
Error: Action failed for registry key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows: creating registry key....
Access is denied.

I have Windows XP with service pack 3. I have tried running the avgremove.exe program I found in another thread. Tried reinstalling. Still nothing. I want this gone!!

Hello mrsx3sleight,

please check this AVG Free Forum post, 4th situation and then run the AVGremover utility under administrative account again. Please be patient and let the utility finish its run, it may take several minutes.

You are entitled for full technical support as AVG Trial user. Please contact AVG technical support if you would encounter further trouble uninstalling AVG. They have more tools to help you with this issue.

Thank you.

the best avg removal tool is ccleaner. I had the same issue as you and as soon as I used ccleaner i was able to uninstall it without a problem.
