Resolved Question

AVG 2012

Sep 1, 2011 3:57AM PDT

I have just d/l and installed AVG Free 2012 on a standalone PC running XP-PRO SP-3.

I have this link to AVG that gives me daily update information that I circulate to other AVG users I know' Link below

http://free.avg.com/us-en/download-update.

Can someone provide me with the link to where I can get daily update information about AVG 2012?

Also please note I had to d/l separate AVG software because I had to change the email configuraton to 'personal email scanner'.

Is such software also required for AVG 2012?

Thank you in advance.

Thank you for your response with respect to the information link as to the daily updates.

The software I was referring to enabled me to change the email configuration to 'personal email scanner' and this caused the incoming and outgoing messages to re-appear.

The software also allowed me to 'repair'.

I have this other executable saved to my AVG folder. It is avgarkt-setup-1.1.0.42.exe.

I am not sure if this is the software I am referring to and would appreciate soem additional help in this matter.

Thank you

Hello dawillie,

Both repair and change of email scanner component can be done by running AVG installation package as described in the linked FAQ's by Ondrej above.

avgarkt-setup-1.1.0.42.exe is very old installation file for standalone Anti-Rootkit.
AVG Anti-Rootkit is part of AVG installation so there is no need to run this file.

Thank you

Hello Dusan,

Thank you for your prompt response.

I went to the FAQ and have d/l and saved the file as below.

AVG for Windows (32bit)
avg_free_x86_all_2012_1796a4455.exe.

Please let me know if this is the correct file as there were a total of 3 files available, one of which was clearly not the file I need becasue it is for the 64 bit systems.

Thank you.
