AVG 2011 will not install - error received

Dec 25, 2010 4:26AM PST

I've been trying to install AVG 2011 Free edition, but it will not install. I receive the following error:

"The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."

The computer is not in safe mode, and the installer IS correctly installed. I had AVG on here before, but followed the directions that were provided by you guys to uninstall the "8" version. Now I can't get AVG installed back on the computer, and it's now unprotected! Help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Bob! The solution you provided worked. I'm downloading AVG 2011 now, and so far so good!
