AVG 2011 Setup Error

May 16, 2011 9:45PM PDT

Trying again to install AVG 2011 Free. Downloaded install from AVG, saved to desktop, restarted. Opened file, ran it and I get Set up Error,Error Code-0xC0070643,Error message-General Internal Error,Add.Message-License Save failed 0xE0020001, Context- MSI Action Failed. My old AVG10.0 was working just fine, now trying to install your new version leaves me no protection.

RE: Links

Hello dean22952,

Please fully remove spybot and verify that this folder no longer exists:
c:\program files\spybot - search & destroy\

Afterwards, perform all steps in full reinstallation instructions.

Do not skip deleting listed folders.

Also make sure not to use semicolon ( ; ) character when entering user details (company name).

Thank you

Hello tlendrum,

please rename the updatecomps.cfg.prepare to updatecomps.cfg (confirm overwriting of the current file, if needed) and restart the computer.
The file is located in the following folder:
C:\ProgramData\avg10\cfg

Some files and folders are hidden by default operating system configuration.

In case the situation is not resolved, please provide us with a screenshot of the repeatedly displayed reboot request (and any additional error message). Please upload the screenshot to some online storage service and provide us with a link to it, as it it not possible to attach files to your posts on this forum.

Alternatively, you may contact AVG technical support for further assistance.

Thank you.
