Avenue A, Inc. and Double Click spyware on CNET?

Mar 11, 2005 1:36AM PST

I've been playing with SpyBot S&D configuration, currently have it giving me warning when it is blocking something.

It keeps warning about these two deals when using your forums. Avenue A, Inc. and Double Click. Is this something ya'll are using, and if so, why? If these aren't something you've set up, why am I only getting them on your forums?

Why is CNET using this? I've been blocking it all along, and the site seems to work just fine. Am I missing out on something important by blocking it?

Why....

Sorry, but only Internet Explorer users seem to report this one. I don't see it in Firefox or Mozilla. And plenty of other sites do far worse than the so-far benign Ave-a.

It's part of an advertiser's tool so that's the why.
