You will want quite a bit of drive space if you are doing much saving, especially BLU RAY. You will also need some good aftermarket burning software so you may want to do a bit of research before you purchase anything. As far as drive space a terabyte would be a good start, you can always get and external drive for storage once you complete your projects so that you can free up space on your internal drive. As far as the standard built PC internal drives(some are iffy) you might be better off building your own system or replacing the factory installed drive with something more substantial, again, I suggest doing some research.
Just purchased a Canon HF20 HD camcorder that records AVCHD files. I'm in the market for a new desktop and wanted to get some input as to how much computer I will need to effectively download these HD files to the computer and edit them. In addition, I was hoping for some input around the Blu-ray burners offered by HP and others in their desktops. Are they reliable? Are there better options in terms of archiving/viewing that I should consider? From my perspective, it would be nice to be able to burn these AVCHD files to a Blu-ray disk for archiving and playback on a compatible Blu-ray player. Thanks in advance for your help!
