I've heard that if I buy avatar in 3d it won't work on my samsung. I have the Samsung es8000.

That's odd. It is a 3D TV.

But I hope Samsung will answer privacy concerns such as others are asking.

http://www.amazon.com/Privacy-Issues-with-ES8000/forum/Fx1IZ1GH878972T/Tx2NIDSM6IXBQ6G/1?_encoding=UTF8&asin=B004O6MN7E

http://techvikings.com/samsung-responds-questions-cameras-microphones-tvs/ covers this again and so far it looks like there is no assurance this will not be abused.

"Samsung also reports that it's not responsible for the services of third parties. Another point of criticism is that Samsung in it's conditions, argues that it may use personal data within all its business structures. The Samsung Group counts a large number of international divisions and joint ventures, leaving unclear exactly, which components have access to such data."

Until you are comfortable with such a device in your home, I'd avoid such models.

But 3D is not an issue.

Samsung ES8000

Apparently that isn't the only problem I've seen with the Samsung ES8000. I've seen some problems with their smart TV feature voice recognition as well. The built in mic should be in the remote not the TV.

We have found no evidence that AVATAR 3D would not work with your 3D TV. If you purchase the Blu-ray and encounter any issues regarding playback, the issue would most likely be with your Blu-ray player, not the TV. Many playback issues can be addressed with firmware updates. If the Blu-ray player you are using is a Samsung model, please bring any issues you encounter to our attention and we will happy to investigate and address them. Also, please be sure to provide the entire product model number (ex. UN55ES8000F vs. es8000) so that we can better assist you. We also recommend you refer to the Samsung Support website, where you can look up your the model of your product and find many helpful answers, including a comprehensive troubleshooting guide, product support videos, FAQs and How-Tos and more.
