Avast "unable to scan"

by 1Chris / February 21, 2010 5:44 AM PST

Avast announced that a virus was detected, with sirens goin off and everythang. I did a scan and after 1 hour and 49 minutes, it just came up with "Disk E: Boot Record Unable to scan: The parameter is incorrect"
What am I supposed to make out of any of this?

Disk E is the DVD drive. So can I assume from this that Avast didn't come up with anything?

If so, you should remove it if Avast is configured to do a boot scanning.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
