That top link seems to work for me.

Because of restrictions in these forums the two links you provided above do not include the full URL or web address. You will see that the links are each divided into two parts, blue (clickable), and black.

What is strange is that, for the top link at least, if I click the clickable part, I still get to a CNET page which, when I click the "Download Now" option, offers me the download. I didn't complete the download because I am not sure where I am. It looks like a page, but I am not sure.

Try this.

I found the Avast Free Antivirus 5.0.545 here;

Click that, then click the "Download Now" option. The page will change to;
and then a popup should appear offering the download.

Those two pages are the genuine CNET pages and should work.

I will report what you have found to the team for them to investigate, and see if there is some error, or something more sinister.

Many thanks for reporting this, and I hope my links work for you.

The most beautiful phone ever has one wildly annoying issue

The Samsung Galaxy S8's fast speeds and fantastic curved screen make it a top phone for 2017, but the annoying fingerprint reader could sour your experience.
