I'm having no luck with Google with the ''WIN32:Adan-53'' but the ''brix6ie.ocx'' appears to be an Active-X control belonging to a ''Free'' coupon program. It appeared in a lot of HijackThis logs from what I found in my searching. Try running your Avast scan in safe mode and see if Avast can delete it that way and then post back and we'll see if we have to go further with this. Directions for safe mode are here.
infected file (brix6ie.ocx) in C:\WINNT\system32.Virus is (WIN32:Adan-53). What is it? And how do I get rid of it?
NAV 2005 did not find this. Nor did Ad-Aware SE , or Spybot S&D. I also have Spywareblaster and MS antispyware. All have come up clean.
Thanks for any info.
