AV programs on a 486DX2-66 with Win95

by Cletus / April 21, 2004 6:42 AM PDT

Going to give away a 486 computer, SCSI drive, ample RAM running Win95. It works well on the Internet with a 33K modem, but has no anti-virus installed.

Will AVG, Ad-aware, Spybot, CWShredder and others of that ilk run on this oldie?

unless you can find older versions. You might want to visit the respective sites and look at their system requirements.

Good luck,

Probably yes,

I've got no problems at all running those programs on Windows 95. My CPU is somewhat faster, so they might not run very fast with you, but there's no reason at all why they shouldn't run.

In reply to: Probably yes,

Hope you are correct. I run AVG and Ad-Aware on a Win95 with a Pent 1 CPU, but uncertain they will work on the 486 CPU.

Going to try loading them---thanks for the input.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
