Question

Autostart programs won't launch

Jan 12, 2019 4:15PM PST

Certain programs that used to autostart don't any more. This started suddenly. The programs are weatherbug, roboform and adguard.

I uninstalled and reinstalled them and set them to autostart. I put them as tasks in task scheduler. I ran sfc /scannow. Nothing worked. Any ideas as to what to do?

Answer
Many of those have their own forums.

I'd post in one of the app's forums and see what they say. But adguard here, the one I use never launched when I booted my PC. It's a web browser add-on so I wonder about that one.

Roboform for me is yet another browser addon.

That leaves me with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WeatherBug which can be an app. But the last time I got a complaint about an app not starting it turned out the trayicon area was just hiding the apps that run in the tray. Do you know how to show them all?

Under taskbar settings

I have show all icons. What seems to work is I put the shortcuts in the startup folder. What's curious is I never had to do that before. The program's autostart option was always enough.

If you have a fix, I'd go with that.

Got it solved

I did a system restore to 12/23/18 and everything is fine. So apparently it was a Windows update. Thanks
