Automatic Update

Jul 12, 2007 9:00PM PDT

Compaq Presario 6470NX running Windows XP.
Automatic updates are continually trying and failing to update my system. One of the popups I get is: "SQLDUMPER library failed initialization. Your installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with. Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem."

I restored to an earlier date and that went away. But, I'm still not getting my updates done. Last Tuesdays are (KB928365, 928366, and 928367). Help~Rose~

Try this
Jul 12, 2007 9:17PM PDT

Goto Windows Update through your browser, (Start > All Programs > Windows Update, at the top of the list).

Let Microsoft scan your computer for validation and then to find out which updates are needed. Then you can download each update manually. Its not likely that you will need SQLDUMPER, so you can hide it from the list of updates.

See if that works.

Thanks for the quick reply Mark. Now I'm getting a popup that says my Windows installer is bad. What's next?

All problems with the latest updates with net framework are because you need to have

Net framework version 1.1 SP1
The hotfix for Version 1.1 SP1 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=8EC6FB8A-29EB-49CF-9DBC-1A0DC2273FF9&displaylang=en
Net framework 2.0

after you install the net framework(s), the windows updates will disappear.
