Question

Automatic restart

Dec 13, 2013 1:55AM PST

My desktop shuts down normally (and the fans stop), but after a second or so reboots. I don't think the cause can be:

(1) Windows XP (installed on the hard disc), because the same thing happens when I boot and run from a Linux live CD;

(2) the hard disk, partly for the same reason and partly because the S.M.A.R.T. data are all satisfactory;

(3) the network adapter, because it is disabled and is anyway not allowed to wake the computer; or

(4) the BIOS, because Wake on PME and Restart on Shutdown are both disabled.

Has anyone any bright ideas, please? Thanks!

The problem of restarting of computer is occured generally in old system but some time its also seen in new system due to manufaturer fault. But generally main reasion of restarting is
1)Virus/Malware:-Some time system's particular part is not working due to some dangerous virous/malware file. its come in your system either by internet or external device like pen drive or external hard disk.
2)loose connection:- Restarting problems may be occure due to loose connection of wire in the CPU or main power supply board.
3)Too much heat/temperature:- Its also arise due to too much heat but if your system is not generating heat means your heat sink device is not working properly it may be damage your mother board .so if your system is generating heat not too much then its good for your system because computer's sink device is working and heat generated within the system is coming outside.
4)Cmos battary:- This is a battary which is working for clock its give the power supply to the clock. you can see it on the mother board its may be damaged some time due to fluctuation of current or due to some other reasion which leads to restarts of system.
5)Dust on board:- Due to dust on board or any other places may be generats spark within the system which may be damaged some particular part of system which lead to restarts of system.
