Automatic photo taken at fixed time intervals

Nov 22, 2010 3:59PM PST

I need a digital still camera to take photos at fixed intervals, say every hour at a fixed place and fixed object day and night. It should store photo on memory card/pen drive which can be transferred/copied to laptop.

Most digital cameras that do time intervals, use the video feature for this purpose.
If you want good still photos, that is not what you want.

If you have used a digital camera, you are aware that the camera will turn off after a short span of time. This saves the battery and keeps the camera from over-heating.
That power-off will prevent you from having long delays.

Digital cameras are not designed to run 100% of the time.

There are three other options that I am aware of:

1.

www.breezesys.com

Has special software that might do what you want.
But you must use specific cameras, it will not work on all cameras.

2.

Wilderness cameras.

These are special cameras for taking pictures of wildlife.
Sporting goods, and wilderness stores carry them.

3.

Surveillance Cameras
Special cameras that are made for the purpose you describe.

www.bhphotovideo.com carries a complete line of surveillance equipment.
