Automatic formatting of phone numbers in Outlook Contacts

Feb 15, 2007 3:12PM PST

How do i prevent Outlook 2000/2003 from automatically inserting an embedded space in my contact phone numbers (international as well as national) (since I sync my contacts with my handphone).

For eg. if i enter phone number as

+9122xxxxxxxx
(91 is country code; 22 is area code;; xxxxxxxx is local phone number)

then Outlook adds a space and makes it:

+91 22xxxxxxxx

I don't want to use :
009122xxxxxxxx which works just fine but there is a hitch:

When any contact calls me on my handphone: the caller name is NOT identified by the handphone (due to the difference: whether i use 009122xxxxxxxx or
+91 22xxxxxxxx).

I have searched the web but in vain. Surely there must be a solution somewhere:

Would greatly appreciate a solution...
